STA Consulting

Inspections

The scope of our work does not stop at the presentation of a report. One of the most important services we offer clients is a complete construction inspection service to complement our investigation, assessment, reporting and design.

This service includes an onsite visit prior to the placement of concrete, confirming that works are completed in accordance with the foundation design documentation.

In the residential field we provide inspections for:

  • Conventional footings and slabs
  • Waffle pod raft slabs
  • Monolithic slabs
  • Piers, posts and pad footings
  • Retaining walls in brick, block, boulder or crib construction
  • Extensions and additions
  • Raised house support and build-under
  • Timber and steel house frames
  • Swimming pools
  • Error, damage and workmanship investigation and rectification

Soil testing and foundation design only becomes effective if the builder follows the plan and builds to "best practice".

Building projects require progress checks and inspections, to satisfy certification requirements (form 16) and quality assurance (Q.A.)

Inspections of foundation and slab construction by inspectors who have backgrounds of practical experience in the construction industry and have undertaken comprehensive training, provides the best chance to achieving a sound certified structure.  Furthermore, they can advise on interpretation of construction method choices and assist with identification of founding materials on site.  On-site meetings utilizing inspectors can be arranged at moderate cost.

All inspected job checklists, certificates and inspection photos are electronically stored and can be rapidly retrieved if the need arises.

Our inspectors work closely with our engineers and design teams, so that any site issues and anomalies that a certifier might have to defer can usually be addressed on the spot, or with minimal delay.

STA Consulting Engineers operates a computer database central booking office so that our team of inspectors can effectively cover South East Queensland at 48 hours notice to match your schedule of digging and pouring - or sooner if time slots are available. All site representatives are contacted 2 hours prior to their booked time slot.
